Further detail

This project was a reroofing and complete remodeling of the internal accommodation.

We started just prior to the Covid pandemic so the actual build was delayed by 6 weeks when we couldn’t work; we then worked incredibly carefully, making sure the H & S of our staff was paramount.

The house dates back some 400 years in an historic south Oxfordshire village.  The roof was original but failing due to woodworm, dry rot, water ingress and lack of maintenance.

We encased the property in scaffolding and sheeting to allow work to progress throughout the winter.  The roof and all internal walls on the 1st floor were removed.  The building on the 1st floor had been rebuilt sometime in the 18th Century so we had to be careful to retain as many of the original features as possible.

The roof was rebuilt to structural engineers design and by our skilled craftspeople.

The internal works included new walls, a mezzanine floor, new ensuite and bathroom, full electrics and heating, internal doors and beautiful, natural oak purlins and end rafters.  It truly is a craftsperson dream to work on such a project.
